Alison is a ceramic artist working with mono-printing techniques and porcelain paper-clay. Her work is predominantly wall-based, although she also makes a range of vessels, lanterns and jewellery.
Alison works from a shared studio in Cardiff, South Wales, and has recently completed her thesis for a PhD in Ceramics at Cardiff School of Art & Design. She also teaches evening classes in Pottery and lectures part-time as an Associate Lecturer in Research skills at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
I practise yoga and reiki, and surf regularly on the south coast of Wales, activities which together with the power and the beauty of nature, greatly influence the ways I engage with materials and concepts as an artist. My creative activities include exhibitions, fairs, teaching, workshops, lectures and residencies both within the U.K. and internationally.
I am very environmentally conscious and recycle all off-cuts of clay, so nothing is wasted. All my work is single-fired to save on electricity, and any pieces that crack during firing are broken into shards and used as decoration around the plants on my balcony!
You are welcome to visit Alison at her studio, but please call in advance to make an appointment.

Hi Alison, I create workshops within the North East and only wish your studio was closer! your work is amazing. I have seen a close up of your work (Rising Sun) and thought the texture and colours blended amazingly. Good luck for the future :)
